Sustained Silent Reading: Bridget Jones's Diary
Bridget Jones, a British woman living in London, whose life is a mess. She writes in her diary everyday, which consists of many absurd stories and hilarious quotes. Since her life is disorganized and unpredictable, she decides to find her "inner poise" and finally take control of her surroundings. She's the type of woman who would read self-help books and eat ice cream on the couch while watching Saturday morning cartoons. She's a smoker, a drinker, a gambler, and also obsessed with losing weight. What Bridget needs is a man in her life so she can gain internal stability. Her relatives and close friends are always trying to get her a man; they push her so much, but Bridget just wont budge. Eventually, Bridget finds two men! but who will she choose? Bridget Jones will finally find her "inner poise" that she's been looking for.
Bridget works as a journalist in a suit-and-tie environment, she also has her own cubical. Her boss, Daniel Cleaver, is ridiculously handsom. He has money, looks, and every girl just fancies him.Bridget never thought she would have a shot with Daniel, she believed she was too fat! But one day while they were at work, they started to e-mail each other on their buisness computers and flirt a lot. A few days later, they went on a date. One point during the date, he began to take off his pants at her house, Bidget refused to go any further. She calls those kinds of guys fuckwittage guys; sleazy guys who only think about sex. Daniel and her made up, and went on a second date, and let's just say it was a night they would never forget! Pretty soon after, Bridget was in love with this man. But is she really? can she be? This thought ponders in her head day and night. some days Daniel completely ignores her, other days, he can be really passionate and caring. hat can Bridget do? He's a sleeze, but a lover at the same time.
Bridget also has a guy, Mark Darcy, a mama's boy lawyer who's stuck up and not as good looking as Daniel. She met mark at a family holiday gathering during Christmas Eve. her first impression was, "Ugh..." he wore a knitted sweater his mom gave him as a christmas gift. She also gave him a relaly bad first impression. who knew that later on, they were going to fall in love? Of course, there alwasy has to be something holding lover's back that forbids them to be happy. Both Daniel and Mark end up having fiances. which crates another conflict, Bridget's life was confusing. She had two men lovign her, two men who are complete opposites.
Bridget ends up choosing the man who likes her "for who she is", Mark Darcy. Daniel, of course, was crushed, but he was an ass from the beginning. One night, Bridget finally got the coursgae to tell him to get out of her life, Bridget has found her "inner poise". She has mad eup her mind and mad an important dicision that can mold the rest of her life. Mark and Bridget loved eachother, and that's how it was going to stay!
